Former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice hung up her white house robe and slipped on a new pair of shoes.
On March 28, 2018, Netflix announced that Susan Rice will join the board of directors. Netflix, Inc. is a publicly-traded, entertainment and streaming company that is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. The company has over 117 million subscribers and has a current market capitalization over $123 billion.
Susan Rice says she is thrilled to be joining the board of directors.”Netflix is a cutting-edge company whose leadership, high-quality productions, and unique culture I deeply admire,” said Rice in a statement.
Rice is known for her service as a foreign policy leader during the Clinton and Obama Administration. In 2013, Rice became the 24th United States National Security advisor, serving in that position until 2017. Prior to that position, she served as the U.N. Ambassador for the United States under the Obama Administration.
Rice worked as a foreign policy aide to Michael Dukakis during the 1988 presidential election before starting her consulting career in the Toronto office of McKinsey & Company, one of the highest ranked management consulting firms in the world.
In addition to her leadership in government, Rice has contributed on the boards of many organizations, including the board of directors of the National Democratic Institute, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and the Atlantic Council. She currently serves on the advisory board of Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. In 2002, she was inducted into Stanford’s Black Alumni Hall of Fame.
In 2017, Rice became a Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow at American University.
Now, this recent Netflix announcement proves that Rice isn’t finished yet. She’s taking her wit, stamina, and decades of experience to Netflix in order to position the company for new opportunities that are coming down the line – this might even include discussions about President Barack Obama’s partnership with Netflix to produce a series of high-profile shows for his next big adventure. Stay tuned!
